We recently went to Rishikesh to try bungee jumping ourselves. Before booking, we had the same questions most people probably do — is it actually safe, is it worth the price, and what really happens once you get there beyond the two-second freefall everyone talks about.

This guide is based on our own visit, along with the latest pricing and eligibility information available at the time of writing.

Why you can trust this guide: This guide is based on our visit to Jumpin Heights in Rishikesh, along with the latest pricing and eligibility information available at the time of writing. The photos used in this article have been provided by Jumpin Heights with permission. We were not paid to write this review.

Quick facts:

  • Price during our visit: ₹4,500 per person for the bungy jump (video and shuttle included)
  • Height: 83 metres
  • Age limit: 12–55 years
  • Weight range: 40–110 kg for the bungy
  • We went in the cooler months, which we’d recommend if you have the choice

If you want the full rundown of how our day went, here’s everything.

Why We Chose to Try Bungee Jumping in Rishikesh

While planning the trip, we looked at a couple of adventure destinations before settling on Rishikesh.

Part of it was the height — it’s home to India’s highest fixed-platform bungee jump — and part of it was that the operation has been running for a long time, which mattered to us as first-timers.

We also didn’t expect the valley itself to be as scenic as it turned out to be; photos genuinely don’t do it justice.

Where We Booked: Jumpin Heights

We booked our jump at Jumpin Heights in Mohanchatti village because, as first-time jumpers, an established safety process and a long operating history mattered more than finding the cheapest option available.

The operator has been running since 2010, which was reassuring going in. The site sits on the Neelkanth Temple road, about 17 km from Tapovan.

A complimentary shuttle comes with the booking, picking up from the Tapovan office at set times through the day. The drive climbs a fair bit in altitude, taking around 45 minutes — enough for the temperature to noticeably drop by the time it reaches the top.

What It Costs

When we visited, we paid ₹4,500 per person for the bungy jump. The ticket included the activity, safety equipment, video recording, and the complimentary shuttle from Tapovan.

We didn’t have to pay anything extra on the day beyond a small entry fee for the friend who came along just to watch. Since prices may change, it’s worth checking the latest rates before booking.

Combo PackagePrice (During Our Visit)

Bungy Jump + Flying Fox (Tandem)₹7,000 per person (with video & cab)
Valley Rope Jump + Flying Fox (Tandem)₹7,000 per person (with video & cab)

Bungy Jump + Valley Rope Jump + Flying Fox (Tandem)₹9,000 per person (with video & cab)

Note: Prices include 18% GST, activity video, and complimentary cab pickup & drop from the Tapovan office to the jump site.

Jumpin Heights also runs a Valley Rope Jump and a Flying Fox, and offers combo pricing if you want to do more than one activity in a day — we only did the bungy on this visit, so we can’t speak to those from experience, but the combo pricing looked like reasonable value if you’re planning a full day out.

Since prices can change, it’s worth confirming current rates directly before you book rather than relying on anything written here.

Other Adventure Activities at Jumpin Heights

If you’re planning to spend a full day at Jumpin Heights, there are two other popular activities besides the bungy jump.

Valley Rope Jump

The Valley Rope Jump combines elements of bungee jumping and giant swing experiences. Instead of rebounding vertically, participants swing across the valley after the initial drop.

During our visit, the activity was priced at ₹4,500 per person, with the video recording and complimentary shuttle included. The eligibility requirements were 12–55 years of age and a weight range of 35–160 kg.

Flying Fox

The Flying Fox lets participants glide across the valley while securely harnessed to a cable. It’s available as a tandem/triple ride (₹2,500 per person) or a solo ride (₹4,000 per person) during our visit. The activity accepts participants aged 12–55 years, with a weight range of 35–230 kg for the tandem ride.

Note: Prices and eligibility requirements mentioned above were valid during our visit. Since operators may revise them, it’s always a good idea to confirm the latest details before booking.

Is It Worth ₹4,500?

Whether ₹4,500 feels expensive depends on what you’re expecting. If you’re looking only at the jump itself, the freefall lasts just a few seconds. But after experiencing it ourselves, we felt we were paying for much more than that.

The ticket covered the safety briefing, professional equipment, the complimentary shuttle, the video recording, and the entire experience from arrival to receiving the jump certificate.

From the moment we reached the venue until we left, the process took around 2–3 hours, making it feel like a complete adventure rather than just a single jump.

That said, if you’re travelling on a tight budget, ₹4,500 is still a significant amount for one activity. Whether it’s worth it ultimately depends on how much value you place on unique adventure experiences. For us, it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of our Rishikesh trip.

What Actually Happens on the Day

This is the part we wish someone had described properly beforehand, so here’s exactly how the day went.

Registration comes first — filling out a form and signing a declaration about any medical conditions. Staff weigh each participant before assigning the bungee cord, since the cord has to match body weight.

From there comes the safety briefing, where an instructor explains the jumping position, what the freefall feels like, and how the rebound works. Paying close attention here genuinely helps once you’re standing at the edge and not thinking clearly.

The entire process—from registration to collecting the certificate after the jump—took us around 2–3 hours, although the actual timing depends on the day’s crowd.

Next is the harness. Ankle attachments get checked twice by two different staff members before anyone’s allowed to move toward the platform. That walk out to the edge is when it starts to feel real — the valley opens up below, a very different feeling from watching someone else do it on a screen.

At the edge, the countdown happens quickly, and then there isn’t much to do except jump. The first second is oddly quiet — mostly just wind and speed — before the cord engages and the rebound starts.

After a couple of bounces, staff lower you down toward the river below, where the water is shallow. From there it’s a walk back up — about 15–20 minutes — to the cafeteria near the top, where we picked up our certificates, watched the video back, and got something to eat.

What the Fear Actually Felt Like

Neither of us felt particularly nervous during registration or even during the safety briefing. What surprised us most was that waiting on the platform felt harder than the jump itself.

Standing at the edge with the valley below was easily the most intimidating part of the day. Once we actually stepped off, there wasn’t enough time to stay scared.

That fear disappeared almost immediately and turned into something closer to excitement — genuinely frightening one second, and by the time the cord rebounds, you’re laughing.

What We Noticed About Safety

During our visit, every participant followed the same registration, weighing, briefing, and harness-check process before reaching the platform.

Harnesses were checked multiple times, weights were verified before anyone was fitted with a cord, and instructors explained each step clearly before letting anyone jump. It felt methodical rather than rushed, even with a queue building up behind us.

That said, we’d still say: follow the official eligibility rules closely, and if you have any medical condition — even one you’re not sure is relevant — check with a doctor before booking.

The medical exclusions we were shown included back or neck injuries, recent fractures, dislocations, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, asthma, neurological disorders, epilepsy, heart conditions, pregnancy, and certain other medical conditions. If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, it’s best to check with your doctor and confirm with the operator before booking.

The Rules, as We Understood Them

RequirementWhat we were told
Age limit12–55 years
Weight range (bungy)40–110 kg
HealthNo serious cardiac, spinal, neurological, or similar conditions
What to wearFitted clothing, closed-toe shoes with secure straps
What not to bringLoose jewellery, glasses, loose footwear, open bags

We’d suggest confirming these directly when you book, since eligibility rules can be updated and the ranges vary a bit for the other activities like the Valley Rope Jump and Flying Fox.

Can You Film It Yourself?

No — we weren’t allowed to bring phones or cameras onto the platform. The reasoning made sense once we saw the setup: anything loose could fall into the valley during the freefall or rebound.

The video was already part of our package, so this wasn’t an issue for us, but if you’re booking elsewhere, it’s worth checking whether recording is included or charged separately.

When to Go

We’d recommend going sometime between October and June if you have flexibility — outside of that window is monsoon season, and we were told operations often get scaled back or paused because of slippery conditions and reduced visibility on the road up.

We went during the cooler months and had clear skies the whole day, which we were glad about.

A Few Things We’d Tell a Friend Before They Go

  • Eat something light a couple of hours before, not right before
  • Wear proper shoes with ankle support — flip-flops or sandals won’t be allowed
  • Take off glasses, earrings, or anything loose before suiting up
  • Confirm your combo or add-on activities before you arrive, rather than deciding on the spot
  • Morning slots seemed to have shorter queues when we went
  • Bring water — we underestimated how dehydrating the adrenaline made us feel afterward
  • Budget time for the walk back up to the cafeteria — it’s uphill and takes longer than you’d think

How long does the entire bungee jumping experience take?

Although the jump itself lasts only a few seconds, the complete experience usually takes around 2–3 hours. This includes registration, the safety briefing, waiting time, the jump, the walk back, and collecting your certificate and video.

Is the video included in the ticket price?

During our visit, the ₹4,500 Bungy Jump package included the activity, video recording, and complimentary shuttle service from the Tapovan office. Since prices and inclusions may change, it’s best to confirm the latest details before booking.

Can I carry my phone or camera during the jump?

No. Phones, cameras, and other loose items are not allowed on the jump platform for safety reasons. If you want a recording of your jump, check whether the official video is included in your package.

Is bungee jumping in Rishikesh worth ₹4,500?

If you’re expecting only a few seconds of freefall, the price may seem high. However, the overall experience includes the safety process, professional equipment, the scenic location, video recording, and the complete adventure from arrival to the jump. For us, it was one of the most memorable experiences of our Rishikesh trip.

Our Verdict

Looking back, the jump itself lasts only a few seconds, but the experience begins long before you leave the platform. The scenic drive, the safety briefing, the anticipation, and finally the jump all combine to make it one of the most memorable adventure activities we’ve tried in Rishikesh.

We left tired, excited, and already talking about coming back to try the Valley Rope Jump on our next visit.
